What is Invisalign?
The reason that Invisalign has become such a popular treatment is because it only takes an average of 6 to 18 months to realign your teeth and in that time, nobody should know how you are doing it – unless you tell them, of course! The aligners are transparent plastic and they are made to measure your mouth precisely and sit over your teeth. This means that when they are worn, only your teeth should be noticeable. The aligners apply pressure to the teeth to carefully move them into the desired position.
Why should I choose Invisalign?
As the name suggests, wearing Invisalign aligners shouldn’t be something that lowers your self-esteem as you won’t have to worry about people noticing them in your mouth. They should be comfortable to wear as they are made bespoke to fit your mouth and you can remove them for up to 2 hours a day. This means that you have the flexibility to take them out when you need a break. You can also take them out for special events or sports – the choice is yours! Taking them out for eating and drinking will also mean that you won’t have a messy cleaning up session after mealtimes, and you can also remove them to brush and floss. By doing so, you will be able to maintain your high standards of oral hygiene and avoid any further complications with your teeth and gums.
In terms of spending time having to come and see us, you will only need a checkup every 6 weeks. At each checkup, you will be provided with the next set of aligners to switch between on a weekly basis. You shouldn’t need to see us for an emergency appointment either due to the aligners breaking as they are made of durable plastic and there is far less chance of them breaking than delicate wires and brackets.
