Orthodontics
OK, so it may seem contradictory to think of orthodontics as a cosmetic treatment, but thanks to the influx in adult and teenage patients asking our dentist in Tooting about it, it has crossed the realm from merely functional to cosmetic. And why wouldn’t it?
Orthodontics has always been about creating straighter smiles and now, it is achievable without the use of metal braces being affixed to the teeth. Many patients are suitable for treatment with an aligner known as Invisalign which, as the name suggests, is practically invisible and is made from clear plastic.
Removable and slotting over your teeth, this aligner gently pushes on the teeth to move them over a period of 2 weeks per aligner, taking an average of 3-6 months in total to complete treatment.
Veneers
Veneers, or porcelain laminates, are now commonplace in cosmetic dentistry and can help you to whiten your smile instantly.
Visually similar to a false nail, veneers are made from either composite or porcelain and are fitted to the front of your teeth with dental cement. If correctly maintained, they can last up to and over 15 years.
They can also be used to conceal cracks or dents in your teeth, hide minor gaps between teeth and can disguise minor misalignments or asymmetry in your teeth.
And best of all, it doesn’t hurt to have them fitted!
Dental implants
The oral implant is a relative newcomer to the world of cosmetic dentistry.
A more permanent option to replace missing teeth, implants are affixed to your jaw through surgery and as they are made from titanium, fuse to the jaw over a period of 3-6 months. Once they have fused, the implants act as a prosthetic root for the false tooth or teeth that we will place on top of it.
You can have dentures secured using oral implants, bridges and even a single crown or tooth. They look and feel like real teeth, require no glues or gels to hold them in place and can easily last for the rest of your life with good maintenance. Perfect!
Whitening
One of the more popular and simpler options we provide to our patients is dental whitening.
Usually a mixture of in-chair and at-home procedures, we can remove deeply set stains from your teeth and whiten your smile up to 18 shades in 2 weeks.
If you have stains caused by issues like fluorosis, we will aim to treat these with abrasion whitening.
